Heater1

Preliminary heater design. About 12" of AWG 24 nichrome wire will dissipate about 100 watts of heat and top out at 1600F.

Heater chamber detail showing prototype heater element made of AWG 24 nichrome.

Boards1

The Raspberry Pi had drilled-out spade lugs soldered to solid ground pins on the SD card and Ethernet connectors. Devices were loosely screwed to their standoffs, and each affixed with a spot of conventional JB Weld.

First stage of board mounting detail. Clockwise from top: MAX31855 interface board, Arduino Uno, Raspberry Pi. The Pi has had drilled-out spade terminals soldered to ground points to serve as mounting lugs.

Vpanel

Preliminary controls installed; functions TBD.

Buttons for control panel mounted.

ISMxJiL

The heater clamp was fabricated from an automotive fuel line clamp with ring terminals soldered on using a torch.
